In the list or preoccupations in a newcomers mind includes there are two things you will find for sure: employment and cost of living. Both, my friends, are money related issues that will kidnap our thoughts for long time.
“How much money I will have to spend every day/week/month?”, ”How can I do to make some income to support those expenses?”, “How much my cost of groceries in Canada will be?”
I bet you had the questions going around in your mind before coming to Canada or you may be having it now that your are planning your immigration for 2012.
Let me share with you a website I found out about a few days ago: it’s called Numbeo. Numbeo.com is a independent software project by Mladen Adamovic, a former Google Engineer, launched in May 2009. The research and available data at Numbeo.com is not influenced by any governmental organization. Even better, much of the data used there is entered by normal people like you and me.
Numbeo has a whole section devoted to Cost of Living in many, many cities around the globe. From there, I pulled some specific information for some of the major cities in Canada.
If you want to find more about this, just click here to go to Numbeo.com, Cost of Living Section.

Thank you for sharing the info and introducing the informative website. But it lacks the day care/child care cost, I guess its also most important living cost..!
I’m really sorry about that. I’ll try harder the next time and find more information.
You can consider, in average, about 30 dollars a day per infant for a full time daycare.
In Quebec you can get the subsidized places by 7 dollars. If you don;t get one, you pay 30 and you get the 23 dollars difference back with your taxes in April.
If there’s any other information you need, just leave me a comment and I;ll try to get it for you.
Thanks for your comment.
