Last week I let you know about the first week of school and how everyone did. I also told you about M starting Kinder and the first, short steps during this period.
Last week M had another day at school. This time he went alone (actually with F, in the same bus) and spent the whole 2 and a half hours there. Of course, mom and dad decided to go to school also and check his safe arrival and how he was going to react now being on his own. Well, actually he did very well. His brother F tokk his hand when they got off the bus, took him to the yard and introduced him to the French teacher (you should’ve seen such a lovely scene!) He stayed there, kind of lost at the beginning but the lady there was kind of supportive and knew when to take his hand. We like his French teacher! Also his brother F took sometime before class to go check for him. F was great! Very nice of him!
So now it’s for real…. This Tuesday M starts kinder and will be the beginning of his school life until he decides it’s enough. He will start learning the first steps not only to language, maths and arts but also towards how to deal with society out of home. He will start his official development as a city and formal member of the Canadian society.
Canada, there you are. This is M, let’s work together to make him a proud citizen. Martin, this is Canada, together we will try to make you a proud citizen of this country.
Good Luck M! And remember… this time it’s for real!

So, this week we share the same feeling. Leonor went to school two weeks ago…so far so good!
The Teacher (or Madame) and all the school staff has been amazing! The attention and at the same time giving them the necessary space so they can discover the new school, the new colleagues and the new language! Yes, Leonor only speaks Portuguese and understands English, but after two weeks she already knows the colors names, numbers and some basic vocabulary (more than me) in French!
Cheers
