When we are in our countries with all the paperwork and when we arrive here, the main subject in our heads is the same: Are we going to find a Job in Canada? How long will it take? How hard will it be?
It took me one month to get my first job in Canada: it was a Call Center somewhere on the East side of the city. It took me 9 months to get a job I like: software tester for a top Canadian company. For both, I had to work hard to get them and make a lot of research. Today, I want to share with you my top websites for jobs in Canada.
- The Working In Canada Tool: Excellent resource for newcomers. It allows you to investigate your occupation in Canada, what’s the real demand for it and where, what is the salary range, etc. Is very intuitive and easy to use.
- Beljob.ca: Job offers in Québec.
- Job Bank Canada: A very complete site from Service Canada.
- Guichet Emplois the French Version for Job Bank Canada.
- Jobboom: The typical jobs database. For some reason, I’ve found it works better for Quebec than other provinces.
- Monster.ca: A classic job search engine for both US and Canada.
- Workopolis: Like Monster but very Canada focused. I like it more than Monster also.
- Immigrer.com: A Quebec website including a Job Search Engine.
- Eluta.ca: I like this a lot. It compiles info from many different places.
- Charity Village: Another very good place to look for a job.
But, to be honest, all these websites are worth nothing if you don’t use the most important tool of them all: Networking! We will talk about this some other day.
Do you have any other one you want to share with us?
Update: A new addition… careerjet.ca
